The Language Department has well-experienced and qualified faculties and it teaches literature from all periods and places. Members of the faculty provide intensive mentoring to students in the classroom beyond that the department hosts lecture series, film screenings, symposia, conferences, and colloquia in particular fields and subfields. We offer Batchelor of English programme with Journalism as a subsidiary subject. It comprises 6 English common courses, 4 additional language courses, 4 complementary elective courses, and 2 Generic elective courses16 Core papers. The central objectives of this programme are to enrich our students with communication and reading skills in English and to act as a guide to those who want to explore the world of literature. The Department plays an active role in the co-curricular activities of the college. Every year, the Language department plays a leading role in intercollegiate fests, department fests, tours, webinars and seminars. The department aims to prepare every student professionally fit for placement programmes in the coming academic years. We provide various orientation programmes and bridge courses to familiarize our students with the course and the curriculum.

The Department offers an advanced, career-oriented graduate programme imparting professional knowledge, employability and life skills, and teaching a vision of community growth and development and strong ethical values. The Department will attempt to provide learning and research opportunities in the following Thrust Areas: Interdisciplinary Studies, New Literature in Languages, Technology in Language Teaching, Modern and Postmodern Literature, Cultural Studies, Gender Studies, Translation Studies, Sociolinguistics and Film Studies. The Department employs innovative and technology-enhanced pedagogies, interdisciplinary approaches, fieldwork, and project-based learning to build a strong foundation of literary sensibilities and language competence.
