"Changing the Narrative" - short film screening
The PG Department of Psychology and Wistaria; Digital Wing jointly organized a short film contest as part of Suicide Prevention Week. The theme, "Changing the Narrative," highlighted the significance of initiating conversations around mental health. The prize distribution and short film screening took place on September 9, 2024, at the WIRAS auditorium from 10:30 am to 12 pm.
Students submitted a diverse range of films, showcasing their creativity and understanding of mental health issues. The winning short films were selected based on their impact, originality, and adherence to the theme.
The event commenced with a welcome speech by Ms. Farzana, 3rd-semester Psychology student. Our Principal Mr. Aboo Ishaque officially addressed the gathering, followed by felicitations from Vice Principal Dr. Akhil R and HOD of Psychology Department Ms. Sahla Abdurahman.
The top three entries were screened, along with two prize-winning videos from the previous year. Mr. Savad B and Ms. Fathima Abdul Kadher of 5th-semester BCom CA received the first prize for their short film.
Prizes were also distributed to the winners of the reels competition held during the graduation ceremony. First prize was won by Mr. Savad B (5th-semester BCom CA)and Second prize was shared by Mr. Shibili (5th semester BCA) and Mr. Muhammed Nihal (5th-semester BCom CA)
Inspiring speeches by Mr. Nasrudheen (3rd-semester BSc Psychology student) and Ms. Shadha Abdul Rahiman (5th-semester BSc Psychology student) shared insights on suicide prevention and its importance.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Miss Sherin Sulthana, (3rd semester BSc Psychology student).
