Focus on solutions, Not problems: Dr. Arnoud Huibers

Vilayankode/Pilathara: The PG Department of Psychology of Wadihuda Institute of Research and Advanced Studies, Vilayankode, Kannur in association with IMHANS and ASFP-I conducted a Special Pre-Conference workshop on Finding Solutions with Children, Adolescents and Parents in prior to International training Conference on Brief Psychotherapies and Annual Meet of ASFP-I. The workshop focused on understanding the Key principles of Solution Focused Brief Therapy, mastering some solution focused ways to connect with children and adolescents and understanding the child’s developmental stages and how to meet them during therapy sessions. The audience included a fine number of Professionals, Students of Psychology, and educationalists.

The welcome address was delivered by Asst. Professor and Head of PG Department of Psychology, Mr. Subair. The Principal of the Institute, Dr Muhammed Asraf, gave the presidential address.The session was inaugurated by the Vice Chairman of Ta’leemul Islam Trust, Mr. SAP Abdussalam. Trust members and various management representatives decorated the event with their presence and felicitations.

The workshop was handled by Psychotherapist from Netherlands Dr. Arnoud Huibers. He is practitioner and trainer of Solutions Focussed Therapy. The workshop was very active throughout with various case discussions and activities. The participants learnt various ways to improve their therapy skills. The resource person focussed on the importance of focusing on solutions instead of problems and how this approach helps in successfully dealing with cases. The workshop got winded up at 5:00 pm with certificate distribution to the participants.
