Institutional Visit Psychology

The second year MSc Counselling Psychology students of PG department of Psychology, WIRAS made an observational visit to Akkara Foundation, a Rehabilitation center, Kasaragod. The visit was aimed at inculcating practical exposure to students in clinical and other multidisciplinary associated fields. The sessions started with the welcome note of Mr. Muhammad Yasir, the manager of Akkara foundation. The students had an interactive session with various department heads like Psychology, Special education, Physiotherapy, Occupational therapy, Speech and language and the palliative care unit. It was followed by a departmental visit, wherein students got an opportunity to interact with the beneficiaries, and their bystanders. The feedback session by students emphasized on their willingness to be part of the community extension programmes like palliative care, building up an inclusive society where all individuals are assured of equity in mental health. The session concluded with the certificate distribution and a photo session. ‎
