One Day National Workshop on Educational Psychology
The Department of Psychology at Wadihuda Women’s Academe, in collaboration with the PG Department of Psychology at Wadihuda Institute of Research and Advanced Studies (WIRAS), hosted a One-day National Workshop on Educational Psychology On November 2, 2024. The event brought together educators, students, and psychology practitioners to engage in insightful discussions on the role of psychology in enhancing educational experiences and outcomes.
The workshop began with a warm welcome address by Mr. Sahad Keyi, Head & Assistant Professor of the Department of Psychology at Wadihuda Women’s Academe. In his remarks, he emphasized the value of time invested in guiding students during their formative years, stressing the importance of nurturing students' development from an early age.
The inaugural session was presided over by Mr. Muhammed Sajid P. K, Director of Education at Wadihuda Group. He highlighted the essential role of education delivered through scientific methods to inspire impactful changes in students' lives.
Mr. S. A. P. Abdussalam, Vice Chairman of Ta’aleemul Islam Trust and Managing Director of Wadihuda Group, officially inaugurated the workshop. Reflecting on the early days of the psychology program at WIRAS, he noted how the department pioneered psychology education in the region, raising awareness of its importance when few were familiar with the field. He acknowledged the growth and progress of the department over the years, positioning it as a valuable educational resource.
The workshop sessions were led by Dr. Kamaludheen K.T, a distinguished educational expert and Principal of Al Shifa College, Perinthalmanna. Dr. Kamaludheen shared his expertise on the integration of psychology into educational practices, offering practical insights into improving teaching methods and understanding student needs. Participants reported a highly engaging and informative experience, with many expressing positive feedback and appreciation for the depth of knowledge imparted.
The event also featured felicitations from prominent figures, including Dr. Aboo Ishaque, Principal of WIRAS; Mr. Ali Kutty K, Executive Officer at WIRAS; and Ms. Sahala, Head & Asst. Professor, PG Department of Psychology at WIRAS. Each expressed their support and enthusiasm for the program and the importance of continued growth in psychology education.
Mr. Farook Usman, General Secretary of Wadihuda Group, honored Dr. Kamaludheen with a memento and awarded certificates to all participants. Ms. Megha M, Assistant Professor at the Department of Psychology, extended a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the esteemed guests, resource persons, organizing committee, and participants who made the event a success.
Overall the workshop provided a platform for enriching exchanges on educational psychology and underscored the commitment of Wadihuda Women’s Academe and WIRAS to fostering progressive educational practices.
