Suicide Prevention Week Inauguration, Psychology Students Association of WIRAS (PSAW)

The Psychology Students’ Association of WIRAS (PSAW) marked the commencement of Suicide Prevention Week with a grand inauguration event on September 11, 2023. This significant occasion aimed to raise awareness about the critical issue of suicide prevention and promote mental well-being among the students and the wider community. The event began with a warm welcome speech by Fathima Shamreena, the Association Secretary of PSAW. She expressed the importance of addressing mental health concerns and the Association’s dedication to creating a supportive environment for all. Dr. Aboo Ishaque, the esteemed Principal of WIRAS, inaugurated the week-long series of events. His support underscored the institution’s commitment to fostering mental health awareness and suicide prevention. Mr. Subair M, the Head of the PG Department of Psychology, delivered an impactful keynote address, shedding light on recognizing signs of distress and the role of psychology in suicide prevention. Mr. Arjun Raj K P, the Staff Coordinator of PSAW, concluded the inauguration ceremony with a heartfelt vote of thanks. He expressed gratitude to all attendees, the speakers, and the organizing team for their collective efforts in making the event a reality.
