World Wetlands Day

The NSS Unit of WIRAS in collaboration with the Kannur Kandal Project, celebrated World Wetlands Day by organizing a visit for first-year NSS volunteers on 3rd February 2025, Monday to the Kannur Kandal Project office, where they attended a session on wetland conservation. The event commenced with a welcome address by Mr. Rahanas, NSS Programme Officer, followed by an insightful session presided over by Mr. Ramith M, Manager and Project Head of the Kannur Kandal Project. The programme was officially inaugurated by Mr. Somasekharan, District Coordinator of the Haritha Kerala Mission, and was graced by the presence of Dr. Aboo Ishaque, Principal of WIRAS, as the chief guest. A vote of thanks was delivered by Ms. Ridha Aysha, Volunteer Secretary, marking the conclusion of the session. In the second session, the volunteers participated in a field visit to the mangroves, guided by Mr. Barath Kumar, Field Officer, making the programme an enriching and memorable experience
